Rules

This section will provide you with all the rules and guidelines you will need to know in order to become a part of iCapture, or contribute to the iCapture online photography club.

  1. Only upload original photography.
All images posted to iCapture must be your own work, not AI generated, not copied, and only lightly edited (e.g., cropping or color adjustments). We want to celebrate authenticity and creativity in every contribution.
  2. Respectful content only.
Please refrain from posting nudity, violence, or graphic/provocative imagery. Keep it family friendly so all members can enjoy and participate in a safe, inclusive space.
  3. Engage with thoughtful, supportive comments.
Leave encouraging and constructive remarks in the chatbox, highlight what you like about composition, lighting, or mood rather than offering unsolicited critique. If critique is requested, make it clear, kind, and specific.
  4. Share and request feedback with intent.
Feel free to ask for critique by tagging your post with “CC” or stating you would appreciate feedback. Only offer detailed advice when feedback is requested, stay positive, respectful, and focus on the photo, not the photographer.
  5. Use clear titles and avoid spam.
Give each upload a simple, descriptive title (no hashtags, gear specs, emojis, or clickbait). Keep conversations relevant and free from self‑promotion or unrelated links to maintain a clean and professional atmosphere.

Categories

When uploading a photo to iCapture, let us know which category it fits (Landscape, Flower, or Food) by labeling your post and giving it a clear title and description. Here’s a breakdown of each category with examples and submission tips.

  • Nature Landscapes
The nature landscapes section focuses specifically on landscapes that are nature-based. This means that nature-driven scenes—like forests at sunrise, coastal cliffs, or dramatic mountain vistas would all count within this category. When submitting a photo related to this category, make sure to label your post as “Landscape: [Title]” (e.g., “Landscape: Misty Pines at Dawn”) and include location. Aim for strong composition with foreground, midground, and background for depth, and mention any filters (like ND or polarizer) you used. We want immersive, scenic shots—not portraits of people or animals.
  • Flowers
This category is for overview or close-ups of flowers or macro details—like petals. The submissions could include: roses, daisys, hydrangeas, etc. When submitting a photo related to this category, make sure to title your post “Flower: [Title]” (e.g., “Flower: Dewy Bluebell Macro”) and note where you found it (garden, meadow, etc.). Soft, diffused light works best—cloudy mornings or shaded areas help highlight color and detail without harsh shadows. Try using shallow depth of field or interesting angles, and crop out distractions in the background.
  • Food
For plated dishes, ingredients, or styled setups—think mouth‑watering flat‑lays or cooking moments. Examples could include burgers, ice cream, pizza, strawberries, or anything else that is food-related. When submitting a photo related to this category, make sure to label submissions as “Food: [Title]” (e.g., “Food: Sunset Pizza on the Grill”) and mention what the dish is and whether you styled it or cooked it. Use natural light near a window and watch your angle (overhead for spreads; 45° for stacked or plated items). Keep props minimal, avoid clutter, and share any story behind the food item/dish.
